Arknight: Endfield Release Date and Time

Before starting with other information, let's start with the release date first (which is to be sure the most important thing to know for those who are interested in the game).
Currently, there is no official date yet. There is only speculation roaming around the fanbase where it is expected to be released somewhere between mid-to-late 2024. Take it with a huge amount of salt since it's only a rumor and it's better to be patient and wait for an official announcement from the game.

What's the Storyline inside Arknight: Endfield

Arknight: Endfield took place in the realm of Talos II, home to monsters known as the 'Aggeloi.' You will play as the Endministrator, also dubbed as the trump card of Endfield Industries based on the rumors that claim the Endministrator always showed up whenever a crisis hits Endfield Industries or Talos-II.
Based on the various trailers on the official YouTube channel, it has been mentioned that you need to keep moving toward the planet's northernmost point in order to preserve civilization. At the same time traveling there, you also need to protect the massive Originium Reactor.

What's the Arknight: Endfield Gameplay Looks Like

A few details about the in-game features are revealed in the video, such as your ability to deploy various types of constructs in bases, assemble a team of up to four characters that you can quickly switch between, and engage in swift combat with opponents in the open world. In addition, we get to see a few additional mechanics like fast travel, crafting, and other things.

If you play Aether Gazer, I'm sure you see the similarities where your entire party can battle alongside you on the field. The difference between these 2 games is Arknight: Endfield offers an open-world environment, unlike Aether Gazer. That also includes creating structures and collecting materials.
Up to four characters can be included in your party, and they can all be strengthened in different ways, such as by leveling up or acquiring better weapons. They also have a ton of abilities that you can improve using certain materials. Character investment is rather similar to a lot of the games in HoYoverse, such as Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail.
Yes, I include lots of other similar games for comparison but not to undermine this game! But to make you understand it easier on how the games operate with other games as examples.

What Genshin Impact doesn't have is constructing structures in the open world, and this is where Arknight: Endfield shines the most. In fact, building structures seems to be the core gameplay and is essential in the game to explore the area around you. For instance, you can go through the region rapidly via zip lines, and you can access your stores and summon allies using pylons.

If you are interested in knowing more about the playstyle, you can check the whole Endfield gameplay playlist from KyoStinV- who has the opportunity to enter the Technical Test. We also covered an article on how to build your ore farm in this guide: Arknights: Endfield Technical Test Preview – Building Your Ore Farm

Arknight: Endfield Technical Test

This article has mentioned 'Technical Test' multiple times, but if you're new to the game, the Technical Test is simply the beta test version for Arknight: Endfield. It started on January 12 and ended on January 21. Yes, you read it right, it was already over. That's another reason why the speculation of the release date was roaming around.

Sign Up Time: 2023 Dec 8, 00:30 - 2023 Dec 24, 15:59 (UTC)
Starting Time: January 12
End Time: January 21

How the Character Looks Like in Arknight: Endfield

In the latest Technical Test, there are a total of 9 playable characters including your own persona- the Endministrator. Just like most Gacha games, you can choose to play as the female Endministrator or male Endministrator. After choosing your protagonist, you will be accompanied by various characters on your journey:

Perlica: Supervisor of Endfield Industries in charge of directing various operations in the Endfield.

Wulfgard: A young mercenary living on the fringes of civilization and a former member of the Landbreaker clan.

Xaihi: A mysterious girl with vast and seemingly trivial knowledge. Very few know anything about her except that she came from an isolated and mysterious place.

Ember: A knight wandering in the North. Once served in a military known as the Order of Steel Oath.

Avywenna: A former Armed Messenger of the Talos-II General Chamber of Commerce (TGCC) and a professional combatant.

Angelina: A Rhodes Island Operator dispatched to Endfield. A gifted combatant, and she also mastered the extremely rare anti-gravity aspect of the Originium Arts.

Chen Qianyu: A specialist operator of Endfield Industries and serves as Perlica's personal security detail.

Fjall: The legendary Beastslayer from the Order of Steel Oath. But after getting tired of endless carnage and battle, he returned to Civilization Band and took up the medical profesion.

Each character will have their own Ultimate animation in the game (and of course, different skill set and attack animation), and you can check it above. But remember that it's from the Technical Test and is not considered to be the final product yet.

Hypergryph, the developer of Arknights: Endfield, normally does not take interviews.

But with the Global Technical Test, 4Gamer recently managed to interview Hypergryph for the first time. But since 4Gamer is an exclusively Japanese news outlet, I've translated the entire interview from Japanese to English:

How did Arknights: Endfield came about? While it was first announced on March 2022, when did you guys first came up with its concepts and ideas?

Hypergryph:
Well when it comes to Endfield's story, we've always had a rough idea on how to play it off of Arknights's story. But around August 2021, that's when we finally got a concrete idea on how it should be and started making proper concept and gameplay prototypes. And after a lot of discussion and testing, we decided that it should be a cross-platform RPG with a highly strategic combat and auto-industrial system.
And also, whilst we were working on the gameplay prototype, we were simultaneously also working on Endfield's first ever worldbuilding-focused concept trailer. Then once that trailer was released, we started official development on Endfield while incorporating the critiques we got from everyone.

Could you please introduce the story of Arknights: Endfield?

Hypergryph:
The player is an Endministrator, who leads a construction company called Endfield exploring the planet Talos II.
In Talos II, while fending off the Aggeloi and Blight, you'll establish a new "homeland" for humanity.
But this isn't quite final yet, we're already planning changes to this story.

Q:
Are the story of Arknights and Arknights: Endfield related?

Hypergryph:
As everyone expects, they are related. But both of them have different themes and story directions, so we hope everyone can enjoy both games on their own merits.

Q:
Is there a possibility for characters from Arknights to show up in Arknights: Endfield?

Hypergryph:
Actually, we got a lot of requests from people asking for "familiar" characters to show up. We're still figuring out how to tackle this and we are actively considering it.

What are you guys most particular about when it comes to world building art and UI design?

Based off of Arknights's existing UI design, we hope to make a new UI design for Arknights: Endfield that's even more readable, yet also appealing.
As for the worldbuilding, I think its graphics are distinct from other media, yet also have a realistic style. I aim to make something that can express the beauty and ugliness of a dangerous world, and also lets you to experience both realism and fantasy at the same time.

Arknights: Endfield is billed as a "3D real time strategy RPG", but what differentiates it from other games in the genre?

Hypergryph:
The core of the combat is that its a real time battle where you can select characters to form a team. You can control one character on the team, but you can switch your point characters and defeat enemies by combining skills.
We've lowered the difficulty of its controls and focused on strategy and fun, and we hope you'll be able to have fun with the game.

Q:
How will the gameplay loop work?

Hypergryph:
You explore the map, progress through the main story, and upgrade your characters in order to explore more and more difficult areas. But in addition to upgrading your characters, you can also use the environment to help defeat enemies, by using the auto-industrial system to manufacture equipment and get materials for character training.

Q:
During battle, what things can the player do and what things can be automated?

Hypergyph:
Well, not only can you control your character in real time and activate their skills, but you can also switch point characters and use their skills. While using a skill, time temporarily stops, letting you precisely choose the timing and target of your skills. Therefore, there can be a lot of strategy when it comes to using skills.
Also, you can generate various effects depending on your character's skills and energy type.
While there's currently no auto battle, but in the future there might be systems to make combat easier.

How does base-building work? And why did you guys decided to implement it?

Hypergryph:
First of all, you'll need to supply electricity to your auto-industrial facility by placing down electrical pylons all over the map.
Then you can build machines who can not only automatically collect resources from all over the map, but even ship them into your auto-industrial facility so that it can craft you all the items you need.
In addition, once you've developed your electrical system enough, you can also build ziplines so you can move between areas more easily.
All these things are fun in of themselves, but the auto-industrial facility also lets you get a lot of materials for "free".
Furthermore, since you can place down auto-industrial machines anywhere on the map, you'll be forced to really think on where and how to place them, which will give you a better sense of immersion and accomplishment.
Most of the materials made by the auto-industrial facility can not only be used to construct the facility, but also to train characters, so you can train a lot of characters.

Q:
What about character growth and customization?

Hypergryph:
Characters can develop their levels and skills. Furthermore, depending on your equipment and weapons you may also find new strategies. It'll be necessary to combine all your character's abilities in order to create your preferred fighting style.
For example, if you want to better control enemies in battle you'll need equipment that reduces skill cooldown time, while if you just want more damage you'll need equipment that increases attack power.
Equipment can be obtained from exploration and from the auto-industrial facility. Different equipment give different effects, and its up to you to decide which equipment goes to which character, so there are endless possibilities for strategy.

So why did you guys decided to create Gryphline?

We will continue to provide games that people all over the world can enjoy, optimize our working environment when it comes to handling overseas games, and also try to communicate better with overseas fans.

Q:

Technical testing for Arknights: Endfield started on November 10, 2023, with approximately 650 players currently having access. It is important to note that we have not yet entered beta testing, and more players will gain access to the game when beta goes live.

With the limited information we have at this time, we can at least look at the currently available characters and their story lore in the game. Here is a list of the characters:

Endministrator

The Endministrator of Endfield Industries.

Rumors claim that the Endministrator would always show up to turn the tide whenever a major crisis hits Endfield Industries or Talos-II, creating many legends and stories about this mysterious character. The Endministrator remains an enigma throughout Talos-II. Other factions are well aware that Endfield has a very special trump card in their hand, but that is all they know. As Endfield's most important secret, the Endministrator is kept in long-term hibernation within a cryostasis pod.

Perlica

"People have grown used to the gray skies of Talos-II, and certain sights are remembered no longer. What about you, Endministrator?"

The Supervisor of Endfield Industries in charge of planning, leading, and executing various corporate operations. She is capable of responding to various crises in a calm and decisive manner. Perlica often has to move from base to base to keep Endfield strong and growing. "Am I getting closer to my objective...?"

Wulfgard

"I know that strength isn't everything, but in Talos-II, you can't live without it."

An ex-mercenary. Wulfgard is already very familiar with the darkest aspects of humanity. Years of vagabond life also gave him a maturity that goes far beyond his age. Wulfgard can be a loyal and reliable friend ... if you can earn his trust. But this is no easy feat. "It doesn't matter how this problem is fixed. What does matter is that the problem is no more."

Xaihi

"The angels I know definitely look nothing like this."

Very few people know anything about Xaihi's past. They only heard that she came from an isolated and mysterious place where people have an odd reverence for technology. Despite her appearances, the way that Xaihi talks and acts is hardly typical of a girl who grew up in a cloister. One must get used to her vast and seemingly trivial knowledge as well as her tendency to jump from one strange topic to the next. Xaihi herself, however, is oblivious to these issues.

Ember

"Give me an order. I'll do my best to see it done."

Ember is a knight wandering in the North who once served a military organization known as the Order of Steel Oath. As an act of redemption, Ember has embarked upon the long, strenuous Crusade and swore an oath to defeat ten thousand Aggeloi and Blightmorphs. "Before my personal Crusade is done, I shall have 'no place' to return to, nor have 'anyone' whom I wish to see."

Avywenna

"I'm not the type who would accept any invitation. But if it's from the Endmin... Well ... maybe I'll give it a shot."

Avywenna is a former Armed Messenger of the Talos-II General Chamber of Commerce (TGCC) and a professional combatant. Despite being an amicable and confident socialite, Avywenna always maintains her distance to keep acquaintances in the "friend zone". And this is how most Messengers on Talos-II deal with people.

Angelina

"This place is totally unlike Rhodes Island. It's all very new to me."

Angelina is a Rhodes Island Operator dispatched to Endfield. She has mastered the rare anti-gravity Originium Arts. She was assigned to the Endfield partnership program shortly after leaving Warfarin's facilities. She remains a sunny optimist with a dash of anxiety but plenty of hope for the future. Warfarin is surprised by this, and somewhat nostalgic as well.

Chen Qianyu

"Let me show off a few moves this time. What do you think?"

Chen Qianyu is a specialist operator of Endfield Industries and serves as Perlica's personal security detail. As a scion of the Lung bloodline, Chen has a strong physique and is extremely talented. She has studied tactics and martial arts since a young age. The training gave her outstanding combat capabilities and a mental fortitude rarely seen in people her age. Truth and justice are the guiding tenets of her life. Chen will never compromise on matters of principle, regardless of the situation or the circumstance.

Fjall

"Think before you act, Endministrator."

It's hard to believe that the soft-spoken and polite Korlek Fjall was the legendary Beastslayer from the Order of Steel Oath. But the former warrior has grown tired of endless carnage and battle. After resigning from the Order of Steel Oath, Korlek returned to the Civilization Band and took up the medical profession. After multiple disappointments, Korlek finally chose to work with Endfield.

Our Future Plans

We will update our information about the characters' skills, abilities, ultimate moves, and so on when the in-house translations are done. Currently, the only information we have is from the technical tests, which were done in Chinese with no official English translation available. We hope to see you visit dotgg.gg again in the future to get more information about Arknights: Endfield, where we will be looking into the characters' mechanics in depth.

Arknights: Endfield is a real-time 3D RPG with strategic elements by HYPERGRYPH, the same developers of the popular mobile game Arknights. The game is set on a new planet called Talos-II, where humanity is trying to rebuild after a devastating war.

The player takes on the role of the Administrator of the Protocol Field Recovery Department Endministrator, and is tasked with exploring the frontiers of Talos-II, completing assignments, and expanding civilization. Arknights: Endfield is currently in development, and a release date has not yet been announced but Alpha Technical Test has started after the developers dropped a teaser trailer and gameplay demo recently.

Alpha Technical Test Preview

After some time scouring the internet, we found a helpful content creator from Youtube by the name of @KyoStinV that showed us a sneak peak of one of the game’s aspect – building your very own mini-factory.

As seen in the video above, Arknights: Endfield will require players to develop their own electricity station, setup mining devices that’s powered by electricity and also build a smelting site to produce goods.

After watching the video, this aspect of the game immediately reminds me of games like Factorio, Mindustry, Vectorio Classic, Villager's Hideout, Satisfactory, Planet Barren Objective, Desynced and more. Not only we get to battle monsters and bad guys, we get to become a mining tycoon in the game. Basically, Arknight: Endfield is Factorio with husbandos and waifus.

How to Build Your Ore Farm

Step 1: Setup your base electricity station
Step 2: Make sure the power grids are connected properly
Step 3: Build your mining site
Step 4: Power your excavation area with electricity
Step 5: Build your processing area for smelting
Step 6: Profit

Looking Forward

From the gameplay trailers, KyoStinV’s technical test and demos released so far, it seems like the base-building aspect of Arknights: Endfield will be similar to Factorio in some ways. For example, players will need to gather resources, build machines, and create production lines in order to progress.

Here are some specific similarities between the base-building gameplay in Arknights: Endfield and Factorio:

  • Resource gathering: Players will need to gather resources from the environment, such as ore, wood, and stone. These resources can then be used to build machines and produce goods.
  • Machine building: Players can build a variety of machines, such as smelters, refineries, and assembly lines. These machines can be used to process resources into more valuable goods.
  • Production lines: Players can create production lines to automate the production of goods. This can help to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Base expansion: Players can expand their base by building new structures and upgrading existing ones. This will allow them to produce more goods and gather more resources.
  • However, there are also some key differences between the base-building gameplay in Arknights: Endfield and Factorio. For example, Arknights: Endfield will have a more combat-focused focus, while Factorio is more focused on logistics and automation.

Overall, it seems like the base-building gameplay in Arknights: Endfield will be a mix of Factorio-style resource gathering and machine building, with Real-time 3D combat. Honestly, I can’t wait to get my waifus build a mining empire and see how this hybrid gameplay system works out when the game is released.
